# SY LD Board Departmental Representative Mandate The SY Departmental Representative (Dep Rep) is nominated by the Department Head to directly represent them in the LD hiring process. The Dep Rep shall, as part of the nominated team: - Act as an impartial SY reference for CERN policy in terms of recruitment and quality; - Ensure that the various steps of the hiring process are carried out fairly and without bias; - Ensure that longer-term coherency is maintained across different groups and over time; - Ensure that the candidate’s technical expertise and behavioural aspects are evaluated; - Evaluate all candidates in term of potential for the organisation (for instance by notifying the DH of any highly promising but non-selected candidates); - Be the Guarantor in the field of diversity following SY objectives, CERN values and code of conduct; - Discuss any difficulties or requests for decision with the Department Head; - With the other nominated Dep Reps, HR Recruitment Specialist and HRA, periodically reflect and propose improvements to the SY internal hiring process. A limited team of SY Department Representatives will be nominated from the pool of Staff with IC contracts, to allow familiarisation with the internal SY process and D&I guidelines, and to provide a continuity of expertise in the role. The list is constructed with diversity in mind, and the coordinators of the Student and Graduate programs are included ex-officio to reinforce the coherency of the SY hiring approach across the programs. The nomination will be until the end of 2024. The list will then be revised annually, should replacement or additions be deemed necessary. Departmental Representatives until December 2024: - Christine Vollinger (RF, DOCT/TECH coordinator) - Gerhard Schneider (BI, GRAD Origin coordinator) - Francesco Cerutti (STI, GRAD Quest coordinator) - Thomas Kramer (ABT) - Benjamin Todd (EPC) - Maria Elena Angoletta (RF, DIO) - Manuel Gonzales Berges (BI) - Ana-Paula Bernardes (STI)
